Book Pivot

So I’m changing up what I’m writing about. After consulting with my cousin (currently writing a sci-fi novel about AI) and investigating the other authors in the “mental health is a big deal and the Western World is bad at it” category (Johann Hari & Gabor Mate are my personal favorites), I realized the topic was a bit too ambitious to tackle in one book without serious scientific investigation that I don’t wanna do.

My new focus will be around the internet, specifically how it’s become a pillar of the moral and ethical education of my generation (Gen Z + iGen). I plan to evaluate the tool’s ability to both enrich and heal those of us who had shit parents (through unprecedented access to positive role models and mental healthcare resources) and also corrupt those who chose to use it for bad (like angry, destructive male incels and toxic, self-sabotaging women). It truly is the duality of man in action, all accessible for the small price of a screen.

I also want to evaluate how we can use the internet as a tool for our collective benefit (given it’s not going anywhere in our lives) and provide some potential solutions from my personal experience on both poles, as someone who found digital parents through YouTube & Reddit and also formed a nasty porn addiction through the internet.

The new working title is The Third Parent. More to come!
